The challenge
Rapid Logistics had 240 riders and no reliable view of any of them. Fuel claims could not be verified, customers called the office for delivery updates, and route planning was done from memory each morning.
What we built
We deployed GPS trackers with a telemetry pipeline feeding a live operations dashboard, paired with an offline-capable Android app for riders. Fuel anomalies and route deviations now raise alerts within a minute.
How we approached it
- 1Hardware evaluation across four tracker vendors before selecting on cost and GSM reliability
- 2MQTT telemetry pipeline with time-series storage for twelve months of history
- 3Offline-first rider app that queues proof-of-delivery until signal returns
- 4Geofencing with automated alerts for route deviation and unauthorised night movement
- 5Customer-facing tracking link sent by SMS on dispatch
The fuel savings alone paid for the build in seven months. Now I can see every bike in the city from my phone.
